Most of what people believe about Instagram privacy is a mix of outdated features, half-remembered rumours, and things that are true on Snapchat but not here. Instagram has genuinely tested and removed screenshot notifications before, which is why the myth is so persistent.

These guides go through what the app records and surfaces today, feature by feature, and say plainly when the honest answer is "nobody outside Meta knows for certain". Where a claim is simply false — profile view tracking, most obviously — we say so rather than hedging to keep an article longer.
